THATCH WITH CHARACTER
Thatched roofs are our passion. From new thatch to properties that are hundreds of years old they all are thatch with certain characteristics so its time for a picture competition to show these delights, Thatch with Character.
New to old, detached, semi or terraced there are plenty of pictures to be taken and entered.
We are starting this competition in September 2025 and look forward to receiving your entries.

This fun idea is for everyone to join in, we think our picture below is very characterful. Do you think it looks like a face with a moustache?
Entering the Competition
Entering is simple. All you need to do is:
Email (claire@thatchadvicecentre.co.uk) with your Thatch with Character pictures (up to six entries per person). Remember to also attach your name and contact number to validate your entries.
Thatch with Character Gallery
As ever, we will want to have a glorious gallery to exhibit the thatch with character shots (copyrighted to the entrant). There is such a vast pool of properties to choose from.
In addition, your entry may be chosen for our social media or website or even as the Winner!! This is a great opportunity for some free promotion.
Entry Benefits
The Winner will be announced in our Autumn 2026 Newsletter (almost 6K subscribers) and will be offered a useful £20 gift voucher.
As previously mentioned, entries are added to a gallery and may be used (giving free promotion on social media etc) and helps us showcasing the variety of thatched cottages there are to enjoy.
This 2025 – 2026 Competition
Our “Thatch with Character” competition is organised by the Thatch Advice Centre.
The Entries
We are pleased to receive up to six pictures via email to claire@thatchadvicecentre.co.uk
Every entry must have the entrants email, name, address, postcode and contact telephone number. Entries without the correct information will be invalidated.
Closing Date and Judging
Midnight on 1st September 2026 is the closing date.
Judging will be via an unconnected judge, who will identify the winning entry.
Rules of Entry to this Competition
All pictures entered must all be original work of the entrant, They must not infringe the rights of any other party. For this reason, entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs or pictures supplied and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. No laws to have been breached when taking any pictures.
Pictures will be copyrighted to the entrant unless requested otherwise, and may be used for Thatch Advice Centre purposes.
Entrants must agreed to be bound by these rules on entering the competition.
In Conclusion
The right is reserved to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage. This will only happen if deemed absolutely necessary, and/or if circumstances arise outside of the Thatch Advice Centre’s control.
If the winner of the Thatch Advice Centre “Thatch with Character” Picture Competition cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, the right is reserved to present the prize to another entrant.
We look forward to receiving your thatch with character pictures.
The Winner will be contacted by email with regard to their prize etc. Their winning picture will be added to the foot of this webpage as well as promoted on our social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest . It goes without saying that it will also be mentioned in the following bi-annual Newsletter.
