Question

Why does a Thatched roof need to breathe?

An Expert Says

Answer

Thatch needs to breathe as it is a natural material and needs air flow to reduce moisture and mould which can cause degradation. Allowing it to breathe maximises lifespan. Roof designers, insulation and fire boarding installations need to bear this in mind.
