We have been talking to our Associates at The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps who have recognised the need for specific training in the area of sweeping thatched properties.
The course is open to all Chimney sweeps and costs £250 including VAT. Lunch and all refreshments included. Guild members benefit from a £100 discount.
Candidates receive a comprehensive manual with many detailed pictures which will prove useful when explaining issues to owners and a Certificate of attendance will be issued.
The Course is comprehensive and covers thatch combustion, building regulations, cause of thatch fires, chimney systems and installations, insurance, risks and corrective measures and more.
Minimum £2.5 million public liability insurance is required to work on thatched properties, more is better.
The first course held in May was fully booked.
