After the success of the last picture competition, we decided to showcase the work involved and diversity in ridges on thatch roofs.
Our “Ridges on Thatch” picture competition therefore made a lot of sense. From butt up to wrap over, flush to ornamental with a bit of rope thrown in, there is plenty of scope for some fabulous shots. From straw to sedge to even heather or turf – lets see what you have got! Maybe we will get some tiled ones too? Can show the process or the finished creation.
Launching in September 2024, we are eagerly awaiting the myriad entries.
We have kept the rules pretty much the same as previous competitions, details below.
Our competition is open to anyone, as long as the pictures entered are your own.
Entering the Competition
Entering is simple. All you need to do is:
Email (claire@thatchadvicecentre.co.uk) with up to 6 pictures of your lovely Ridges on Thatch pictures. Don’t forget to include your contact details. (see below).
Showcasing Thatched Ridges
We are certain all the thatched ridges pictures will look spectacular on the amazing gallery to be created with entries (copywrited to you) along with some of our own pictures of ridges on thatch. This will then showcase the variety of ridges and patterns along with the skill of the thatchers who are maintaining our properties.
If your entries are used by us e.g. on social media or website, it is an opportunity for additional free promotion.
Entry Benefits
Not only will the winner have the accolade of winning they will also receive a £20 gift voucher.
All entries are uploaded onto the gallery and may also get further promotion on our social media, in our Newsletter etc. (Use of the entries for this is agreed unless you let us know to the contrary.)
This Competition
This Thatch Advice Centre Picture Competition is called ‘Ridges on Thatch’.
The Entries
Enter a maximum of six pictures via email to claire@thatchadvicecentre.co.uk
Each entry should include your name, address, postcode and contact telephone number. Only entries received by email with the appropriate information (above) will be valid.
Closing Date and Judging
Midnight on 1st September 2025 is the closing date.
An independent judge, will choose the winner, from all valid entries.
The Entries
All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrant must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking any photographs.
The Thatch Advice Centre may use the pictures but they will be copyrighted to the entrant e unless requested otherwise.
Entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules, by entering the competition.
And Finally
The Thatch Advice Centre reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
If the winner of the Thatch Advice Centre “Thatched Ridges” Picture Competition is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, we reserve the right to offer the prize to another entrant.

As previously, our winners are notified by email, the winning picture will be shown on this page. It will also be promoted on our social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest and, of course, mentioned in the next Newsletter.
