The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust is a registered charity which funds training and education for the crafts, the makers. We are pleased to share their information so that any of our friends and associates in the craft world (including thatchers of course!) can understand how Qest funding could help them, and even apply.
Funding of up to £18,000 available for craftspeople
Applications for QEST Grants are now open. QEST provides funding for education, training and skills development for makers and conservators across the UK, supporting both contemporary and traditional craft, as well as the development of innovative techniques. Since 1990, QEST has supported almost 900 makers and conservators, helping to develop the next generation of skilled craft professionals in the UK.
QEST Grants are open for applications twice a year. The current application round runs from 8 July to 12 August 2026.
Whether you’re an emerging maker, an established craft professional looking to develop specialist skills, or an employer training an apprentice, QEST offers three funding opportunities:
- QEST Scholarships – up to £18,000 for education and training
- Emerging Maker Grants – up to £10,000 for early-career makers
- Apprenticeship Grants – up to £12,000 towards an apprentice’s salary
