nbuk Cafe and Ecobuild 2018
How exciting to be asked to join the Natural Builders, nbuk, at Ecobuild again. The Natural Building Cafe was set up at Ecobuild 2018, held in Excel London 6 – 8th March.

We booked our parking slot and travelled up to Ecobuild. A better journey than it would have been last week but still twice the time than was anticipated! On arrival we collected our exhibitor passes and off to the Natural Building Cafe to see everyone – visitors and nbuk exhibitors. The conference areas were busy and there was a definite buzz of a great atmosphere.
The timber framed structure housed information sheets and material samples to demonstrate the natural building options available and nbuk exhibitors were on hand to help and advise to the visitors.
The siting of the Café was perfect and the display building with Ask the Experts, demonstration area and seating section were very well positioned to be relaxing, informative and friendly. We received our T-shirts, which was a great way to make all the nbuk Exhibitors obvious and easy to approach.
nbuk is a gathering together of Natural Builders. Wood, earth, clay, stone, straw, hemp, reed, lime and thatch to name a few. The architects who understand natural building, the builders, the material specialists, the suppliers, the trainers. The demonstrations were an important part of the natural building cafe area and we very well attended. Below is a picture of the Straw builders excellent demonstration.
Huge thanks to everyone, all the hard work behind the scenes and getting the nbuk area ready. A credit to the Natural Builders and so much great engagement and feedback. Busy indeed but time flies when you are enjoying yourself and we do love sharing our knowledge about thatch and increasing knowledge about natural building. Questions on materials, design, insulation, insurance, building regulations as well as individual’s plans and ideas for building. The conversations with people about their natural building projects and options were fascinating.
The nbuk Exhibitors posters around the cafe showcased our individual materials and the capabilities of those attending to advise on Natural Building techniques and potential.
So many interesting Natural Builders exhibiting their skill, expertise and knowledge. Getting together also gave us a great opportunity to share information and ideas as well as plan for the future of nbuk.
